Description of Glogster

Glogster is a website that allows users to create online, interactive posters on a chosen topic. Users can upload photos, videos, text, audio, and other multimedia resources to their poster, and they can print it out or embed it in another website to share with others. It is a safe multimedia space which allows users to blend the lines between print and digital information. Glogster EDU is the educator's version of Glogster, providing the same ability to create multimedia posters, but specifically designed for classroom use.

Benefits of Glogster
Here are some of the benefits for students and teacheres

  • Students can demonstrate their knowledge of a topic in a way that is creative and engaging
  • Student interest is stimulated by the appeal of Glogster as a multimedia tool
  • Students can upload their own material from text sources, videos, music, photographs, etc.
  • Glogster EDU is housed in a safe and private space that allows teachers to administer accounts

Constraints of Glogster
Glogster is very proprietary - because it is so unique, creative and engaging, it can be disorienting or hard to use.

Glogster also uses flash, which means many devices will not be able to access it from their browser.

How to use Glogster
1. Watch a brief tutorial video about Glogster.
2. Explore a few of the Glogster examples below.
3. Create your own Glogster.edu account.
4. Click on "Create New Glog", and begin working on a Glog that does one of the following:

  • Shares about a personal hobby or cause
  • Explains a word or concept related to your content area

Your Glog should include relevant background information and at least one text box, picture or video, and link.
5. When you have finished, click "Save and Publish", name your Glog, and be prepared to share it with others.
